RECORDING INSTITUTE OF DETROIT HIRES PLACEMENT EXPERT
- TO COMBAT TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES

Press Release, June, 2008

If you recorded at a music studio in the Metro Detroit area sometime in the last 20 years you probably worked with a graduate of Recording Institute Of Detroit.  Established more than 3 decades ago, the institute has effectively trained audio technicians to expertly record music.  As a result, graduates have worked with famous music stars like George Clinton, Emenem, Paula Abdul, 50 Cent, Willie Nelson, and Kid Rock (to name a few).

The Recording Institute of Detroit has always limited it's enrollment to the number of students that it can successfully place into jobs in the field.  Until recent years, RID would place 85% - 95% of its's graduates into jobs in the music industry without much effort, relying on it's quality of training and reputation in the field to help graduates get an "edge" on getting the vacant audio engineering positions in the field. But in today's market there's a lot less jobs available in the music industry (as there are in many industries).

In order to keep the Recording Institute placement at a high rate, and to counteract today's tighter job market, the institute has hired an expert in placement, Ms. Shawnee Brown.

Ms Brown worked for 4 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District before relocating to the Detroit Area several years ago.  The last three years in Los Angeles she worked in the school district's placement office for the School Volunteer Program designing, installing and maintaining a computerized placement system that let the district place over 8000 volunteers in schools each year.

Ms Brown is in contact with the 1200+ music production facilities in the Tri-State area around RID, seeking to place the 150 RID Graduates in job and intern positions per year.  Students, Graduates of the institute and studios desiring interns/employees can contact Ms. Brown at the RID toll-free number (800-683-1RID) Monday-Friday afternoons until 4:00 PM for assistance.
